Athletes that ended Nigeria’s medal drought at the 2018 Commonwealth Games

They are the heroes and heroines of Nigeria. These athletes through hardwork put Nigeria on the path of success by ending weeks of medal draught at the ongoing 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games in Goldcoast Australia. They have won 4 Gold medals and 4 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.

These are the athletes and the honours they won for Nigeria:

Roland Ezuruike won Gold in the men’s Lightweight Lifting category

Esther Onyema won Gold in the women’s Lightweight Lifting category breaking a    world record.

Ndidi Nwosu also won Gold in the women’s Lightweight Lifting category.

  • Ibrahim Abdulazeez

Ibrahim Abdulazeez won Gold in the Para Heavyweight lifting category with a lift of 220kg, amassing a total of 191.9 points despite failing his attempt on 221kg.

  • Chukwuebuka Enekwechi
Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won Silver medal in shotput with a heave of 21.14m.
